Not a great deal on the workbench today, but that doesn’t mean that I’m running out of steam (heh).

I’ve been thinking a bunch about the locomotive “Off the Rails” challenge again. I managed to get some sketches in earlier this week, but today I began my exploration into the 3D printing space. My current plan is to use my FDM printer to get some wheels, gears, and the … bottom bits … of the steam engines so that I can just plonk together a whole bunch of detritus upon it. Obviously thinking that it’s meant to be highly engineered, but still a disaster. The printer is running on another project at the moment so it’ll have to wait til then.

That project is where my hobby log begins. I’ve been working hard at constructing my own 3ft-by-3ft tabletop for home games, in particular solo games. I am nearly finished with the frame itself printing (each ‘square’ is 8×8 inches) and soon enough I can begin decorating. I’m going to go with a generic base because this will be something I use for Frostgrave, the full collection of Snarling Badger games, Fjord Serpents, and maybe even giving some Silver Bayonet a go. I needed a surface and I don’t’ have access to space that I can do woodworking, so this 3d printed table is the best I can do for the moment. I’ll keep you all informed at the progress

My afternoon — and presumably my tomorrow as well — has been plagued by migraines from a fairly dramatic weather shift. It’s fine mostly, but I was only able to print and glue together a rickety final cart for the swill-luggers. I think it’ll form a good base, but we’ll have to see how a bigger bashing goes in the coming days.

That’s all for today I think. I will likely have a bit of a slow day tomorrow. Maybe I’ll slap-chop something… who knows.
